About Us

Founded on the lived experiences of former child soldiers and peace activists, we are advancing transitional justice, community reconciliation, and youth empowerment throughout Nepal.

Our Story

Peace Envisioners is dedicated to peacebuilding, youth leadership, community resilience, and inclusive development. Since our founding, we have worked with over 1,200 youth and reached 78 communities across multiple continents.

What We Do

We believe that lasting peace comes through dialogue, understanding, and collective action. Our programs focus on:

  • Peace Education: Teaching conflict resolution and mediation skills to youth
  • Youth Leadership: Developing the next generation of peace advocates
  • Community Resilience: Building strong, inclusive communities
  • Climate & Social Justice: Addressing the intersection of environmental and social change

Our Impact

94% of our program participants report improved peace skills and greater understanding of conflict resolution. We’ve launched 23 advocacy campaigns that have influenced policy and community practice in peacebuilding.

Meet Our Team

Our dedicated team of professionals is passionate about creating positive change. Learn more about our leadership below.

From Discharged Combatants to Champions of Peace

Peace Envisioners Nepal, initially founded as the Discharged People's Liberation Army Nepal, was established by former child soldiers who were disqualified and discharged following the 2006 Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) in Nepal.

Led by human rights defender Lenin Bista, the organization has evolved into a nationwide non-profit dedicated to defending youth rights, demanding accountability for child recruitment during the armed conflict, and fostering grassroots peacebuilding mechanisms.

Through persistent domestic and international advocacy—collaborating closely with bodies like UNDP Nepal, TRIAL International, and the Human Rights and Justice Center (HRJC)—we recently launched the survivor-led Transitional Justice Resource Centre (#TJRC) in Nepal following a historic two-day workshop on transitional justice and victim agency matters.
